Christ-Centered Education for Life
Thanksgiving Update

This year seems to be going quickly just like every other year.  Time speeds past as we accomplish so much at school. We have finished both our volleyball and football seasons, and we eagerly anticipate the beginning of boys’ and girls’ basketball season.  The Fall Sports Banquet has come and gone. A very successful first quarter has come and gone. The one constant at Lutheran East is God’s presence and blessing on the work our teachers are doing here.  God truly is the same yesterday, today, and forever. That is a source of great comfort in this ever-changing world!

One current highlight at Lutheran East is our fall drama production entitled All-American.  This tremendous one-act play shows the pressures of a modern family led by an ex-NFL football player who tries to push his All-American quarterback daughter headlong into the NFL.  The drama is touching in how it addresses the real family issues that face married couples, families, and siblings. The students have put in countless hours to build and paint the set, to memorize lines and act out characters, and to mark placement and move props for scene changes.  The play has 13 separate scenes which need to be all set up very quickly. The stage crew students have done an amazing job of making the actors look their very best. Among the cast is Ivan Percy, Jr. who is a football start in his own right at Lutheran East. We can also boast having senior Tyra Robertson who has conquered the stage as well as high-heeled shoes!

Of course, as the play ends the staff and students are looking forward to having Thanksgiving Day with family and friends.  We all need a respite after many long hours of classes, sports, and drama! After Thanksgiving Break is a few short weeks until Christmas Break.  During that time classes will wrap up some very important learning, and they will end with final exams before we all head out. We know in this season of Thanksgiving and Christmas that God has given us so many blessing for which we can be thankful.  Among them is a great place for students to learn and grow academically and spiritually every day of the school year.
